We did it!! We helped advance our film incentive in Oakland. Yesterday, I joined other artists, filmmakers and creatives and proudly stood at Oakland City Hall in support of the Oakland Film initiative, which is an initiative that I’ve been working on through my organization @culturestrike together with amazing folks including @impastormike_ @wkamaubell @sambempong and @_amazingracie Stephen Curry’s new company, Unanimous Media @unanimousworld is also joining the group of advisory partners! This is a groundbreaking moment when artists, filmmakers, organizers, and community folks have come together to imagine a cultural economy rooted in storytelling and in uplifting our beautiful city! Oakland influences the world, the culture we create here has global impacts. And yet, there is no functional film infrastructure in Oakland. So when filmmakers wanna make films here, it’s nearly impossible. However @MakeitBay , our initiative is changing that! We have formed a coalition called the East Bay Film Collective and we have been organizing to create an ecosystem of film, storytelling and cultural power! Remember that films don’t just employ artists, they employ caterers, dry cleaners, electricians, etc! There is one step left! Our next vote is at a city council meeting on July 16th. Be sure to follow @makeitbay so ya’ll show up in force. See you there!

Thank you all to those who came out to my open studio earlier this month! I’m still feeling high from all the love! I’m happy to announce that I have deeply discounted over 50+ artworks on my online store so that anyone who couldn’t make it in person can now have a chance in grabbing one of a kind, handmade original art works. These will be discounted through the end of June! Over these next few years, I will slow down the creation of new works because I’m working on my first film. So here’s your chance in acquiring my limited edition collages and prints while they are available. My art studio is run by all femmes, and most of them are Queer BIPOC folks. Hey folks, as you all know, I’ve been working on helping to pass a film rebate so that we can bring jobs to Oakland and lift up the creative sector here. Check out SUPERBLOOMS: a large-scale ground mural by Tosha Stimage saintfloraco that champions the resilient histories of @Presidiosf native plants like; Chilean strawberry, California poppy, and Checkerbloom. This is the third installation of the Ancestral Futurism Public Art Mentorship Program. Tosha Stimage is an Oakland based artist and owner of SAINTFLORA, is a full-service floral design shop specializing in unconventional flower experiences. As the program founder, I invite emerging and mid-career BIPOC artists to develop temporary installations at the Presidio Tunnel Tops while building strong relationships with the Park and its stewards. Join me this Saturday June 22nd at Skyline Wilderness Park in Napa where I’ll be hosting my infamous FREE hands-on art making workshop for children and their families to celebrate the beauty of nature and our relationship to trees. There are two workshop sessions, one at 10am and one at 12pm See my link in bio! Young participants will be able to create their own set of butterfly wings to celebrate trees as well as the many species that live in trees, including the monarch butterfly. There will be kid activities from @First5Napa County and the Napa Open Space District, and you’ll have the chance to experience the Outdoor Connection, a mobile science laboratory for kids. I’m outraged at the atrocities in Falestina! Help me raise funds to support families in need after the horrendous bombing. Thanks to the sales of these posters, the last time I donated was for families in Rafah, via @thesameerproject I have two posters that I’m using to raise funds. DIVEST: The first poster is about Divestment. It’s a poster inspired by the student organizing happening throughout the country, demanding that we divest from military and weapons manufacturers. SHUT IT DOWN: The second poster pays homage to the direct action for Palestine that took place last year at the San Francisco Bay Bridge. The action demanded an end to military aid and a ceasefire, and called out Biden to do more for the Palestinians. Grab one now and help me move these resources!

I love to BE in my body. I enjoy being clothes-free, the same way that I came into earthside. In my childhood I received negative messages about my body and I was forced to cover my body in ways that did not feel authentic to me. Growing up in the Queer Bay Area, a place where sexual expression was encouraged, I would try to dress in ways that made me feel confident, sensual and empowered, and because of that I was punished in painful ways. But it ended up having the opposite effect. Not wearing clothes became a way for me to fully express myself. I feel thankful to have the freedom to be fully expressed in my gender identity and wear things that make me feel playful, joyful, and fly - like myself. As an artist, I question a lot of dominant narratives in our society. Why is it that cis male bodies get to walk around showing their chest? Yet those of us who have breasts, which are literally parts of our bodies that are fascinating! These parts help nourish babies, literally ensuring the survival of our species. Why do we have to cover them? Why do we have laws that legislate how parents get to breastfeed their kids in public? These are all patriarchal policies rooted in colonial thinking and they serve to limit the expression and enjoyment of our bodies. Similarly, there are many other parts of the body which also get highly sexualized and stigmatized. This is why I resist this colonial framework by walking around freely in my nakedness, especially in nature. This particular art piece is inspired by a day at the Folsom Street Fair. I loved how many folks were wearing harnesses and leather outfits popular in kink and BDSM culture. I felt so lucky to live in such an open place like the Bay Area. So I got myself a cute harness, and that inspired this piece!

Spring Art Series! This vibrant flower collection celebrates the enchanting beauty of spring, inspired by my five-year journey nurturing my garden into a sanctuary. For me, spring embodies a season of personal growth and renewal, like the blooming of a flower. As winter fades away, I embrace introspection and reflection, paving the way for fresh ideas and decisive actions in the spring. Flowers, with their kaleidoscope of colors, serve as a central metaphors in my artwork, symbolizing the vibrancy and vitality of this transformative time.

An amazing and heart filled evening at the @oaklandmuseumca sharing the stage with the homies @wkamaubell and @rafaelcasal ! We rapped about the power of culture and storytelling, and about the film incentive that we have helped organize towards that will bring more tv and film to Oakland! URGENT: Help me raise funds to support UC Santa Cruz students who were just violently targeted by police. Cops showed up to tear down their encampment. Faculty and students were injured and arrested. Now is the time to support them. I’m deeply inspired by the growing student movement demanding divestment. They need help now. Proceeds will go towards bail, food, water, and support mechanisms.
